Udalguri (Assam), 16 August (HS): A man was killed in a wild elephant attack this morning in the Rajgarh area along the India-Bhutan border in Udalguri district. The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Bhupen Deka.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 6:30 AM while tea leaves were being plucked in a tea garden. A wild elephant suddenly charged, killing Deka on the spot. The attack has left local residents in fear, as elephant incursions continue to pose a threat in the area.
Following the incident, forest department officials and police reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it for postmortem examination. Authorities have assured that necessary measures are being taken to prevent further elephant intrusions in the region.
