Bhubaneswar, 16 August (H.S.): Raghunath Sasmal, fondly known as Raghu Mousa, the legendary dahibara vendor who became a culinary icon of Cuttack, passed away on Friday at the age of 94. He was widely credited with popularizing Cuttack’s signature dish dahibara aludum and remained a beloved figure in the city’s street food culture for over six decades.
Beginning his journey in 1950 at the age of 15, Raghu Mousa dedicated more than 60 years of his life to perfecting and serving the iconic delicacy. His signature style of presenting dahibara in fresh sal leaves and his unwavering commitment to quality made his stall a go-to spot for food lovers across generations.
Known not only for his culinary skills but also for his warm demeanor, Raghu Mousa was a household name in Cuttack. Even in his later years, he continued serving customers with the same passion and enthusiasm that defined his early days.
He had been battling age-related ailments and was under treatment at his residence at the time of his passing.
