(HS): A 55-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself under suspicious

circumstances in West Mohalla of Vindhyachal police station area, police

informed on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Saptami Prasad. Police

reached the spot after getting information about the incident and took the body

in their custody and sent it for post-mortem. Saptami Prasad reached a room on

the third floor of his house at night and committed suicide by hanging himself

from the fan with the help of a towel. After some time, when the family members

spotted him hanging, he was rescued from the noose and brought down. After

this, the local people informed the police.

Police station

in-charge Ved Prakash Pandey said that the body will be sent to the mortuary

for post-mortem so that the cause of death can be ascertained. At present, the

investigation of the case is going on. According to police sources, the

deceased was a drug addict and there have been two suicide incidents in the

family before. It is said that the deceased's son also committed suicide by

hanging himself a few years ago. This incident has created a sensation in the

area, with this being the third family member commting suicide.
