Sambhal, 15 Aug (HS): On Friday,
Samajwadi Party MP from Sambhal Zia Ur Rehman Barq criticized the government's
bulldozer policy, claiming that it is destroying our rights in addition to
demolishing houses and stores. The MP,
who was interacting with journalists here, also expressed worry regarding the
removal of votes during Bihar's election record revision. The Sambhal district has removed many
encroached sites in recent months by bulldozing what officials claim are
unlawful constructions.
In response to a query concerning the ongoing demolition operations, the MP
stated, The bulldozer action is not only on houses and shops; it is
running on our rights. Bulldozers are destroying our liberties.”
It is unfortunate that our country's
three pillars—legislature, executive, and judiciary—are now represented by a
single power. He emphasized that the authority to punish belongs to the court
rather than the administration, and that the Supreme Court has frequently
called for a stop to such measures. The MP raised concerns over Bihar's voter
list alteration. If 65 lakh votes are
removed from Bihar, this equates to around 30,000 votes per seat from the
state's 243 seats. The winning margin for an assembly seat will then range
between 2,000 and 10,000. We want
democracy and the Constitution to be implemented throughout the country,
including Bihar, and the government to be chosen based on the rights of the
people, he stated.
