South Salmara (Assam), 15 August (HS): Assam’s Minister for General Administration, Panchayat and Rural Development, Judicial, and Tourism Departments, Ranjeet Kumar Das, attended the 79th Independence Day celebrations as the chief guest at the district headquarters in Hatsingimari, South Salmara-Mankachar, on Friday. He hoisted the national flag at the event held at Hatsingimari College playground.
The ceremony began with the minister garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and paying tribute to martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation. In his address, Das highlighted the history of India’s freedom struggle and discussed the multi-faceted development achieved under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in the state. He also called upon all citizens to actively contribute towards building a self-reliant India.
Special Chief Secretary MK Yadav, Principal Secretary Mukesh Sahu, the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and the District Council Chairperson along with several dignitaries were present on the occasion.
