Itanagar, 15 August (HS): On the 79th Independence Day, the tricolour was proudly hoisted at the India-China border in Kaho and Kibithu villages of Anjaw district, Arunachal Pradesh, by the soldiers of the Indian Army’s Spear Corps.

The celebrations began with a tricolour march through the villages, where soldiers and residents carried the national flag side by side, reflecting unity and patriotism. The flag-hoisting ceremony that followed symbolised the shared commitment to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty.

Community events added vibrancy to the occasion, with schoolchildren participating in a painting competition. The sight of the fluttering tricolour against the backdrop of Arunachal’s ancient mountains stood as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made to secure India’s freedom.

Senior officials reaffirmed the Spear Corps’ dedication to the security, development and welfare of border communities. The ceremonies in Kaho and Kibithu showcased the courage and resilience of those living and guarding the nation’s farthest frontiers.
