Guwahati (Assam), 15 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday extended his greetings to all Indians on the occasion of Independence Day, paying tribute to the sacrifices of those who fought for the country’s freedom.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister wrote, “I extend my wishes for Independence Day to every Indian. On this great and sacred occasion, I bow to the noble sacrifices of those virtuous souls who gave everything for the freedom of the country. After crossing seven decades of independence, Assam has achieved several remarkable milestones for the first time. Let us take a moment to reflect on those achievements on this great day.”
Dr. Sarma listed Assam’s key achievements, including the establishment of model high schools in tea gardens, AIIMS in Guwahati, zero rhino killings after 2022, resolution of border disputes with Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, Guinness World Records for Bihu and massive Jhumur performances, India’s first pure green hydrogen plant in Jorhat, the country’s first river night navigation app, approval for IIM Guwahati, the first medical college in the Bodoland Territorial Region, the world’s longest traveling river cruise in Dibrugarh, India’s first individual 5G network in Bodh Nagar, revival of cargo services on the Kapili River, a peace agreement with ULFA, cessation of violence and record-high private sector investment, including Tata Semiconductor.-----
