Lakhmipur (Assam), 14 August (HS): Renowned social worker and senior BJP leader Kosheshwar Saikia from Narayanpur in Lakhmipur district passed away on Wednesday late night. He had been ill for some time. Early morning, his health suddenly deteriorated and he was rushed to Bargang Catholic Hospital in Bishwanath district, where doctors declared him dead.

Former Chief Minister and Union Cabinet Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who shared a close bond with Saikia, expressed deep sorrow over his demise. The entire region is engulfed in mourning following the loss of the veteran leader.
