Lucknow, 14 Aug
(HS): While inaugurating a grand exhibition organized in Lucknow on the
occasion of 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day', Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
launched a scathing attack on the Congress. He termed the 1947 partition as a
dark chapter of the Congress's appeasement policy and said that this terrible
tragedy caused pain to the country by breaking the unity of Sanatan Bharat. He
said that today the whole country is mourning the partition horror of 14 August
1947. Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought history alive by declaring this day
as Smriti Diwas in 2021.
Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath on Thursday visited the exhibition organized on the occasion of
'Partition Horrors Memorial Day' at GPO Park and called upon the countrymen to
learn a lesson from history. In the exhibition, the youth were made aware of
the price of appeasement and the pain of that period through digital archive
photos, newspaper clippings, government records and preserved material of
displaced families related to the violence that arose after the Partition.
The Chief Minister
said that the revolutionaries embraced the gallows for freedom, but the
Congress partitioned the country in its greed for power. He alleged that the
campaign to make areas like Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan in West
Pakistan devoid of Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists was the result of Congress's
policy. 15-20 lakh people lost their lives in this violence and crores were
displaced. CM Yogi said that this was the culmination of atrocities, which was
encouraged by the Congress.
Government will
provide proper rehabilitation to the families affected by the disaster under
CAA: Chief Minister - Yogi also accused the Congress of indifference towards
the displaced. He said that the then government neither built memorials nor
established museums for the people of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Christian
communities who left their homes. Their suffering was forgotten. On the
contrary, he praised PM Modi, who gave citizenship and rehabilitation rights to
refugees through CAA. Chief Minister Yogi said that for the first time refugees
in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas got citizenship through CAA. These people
are contributing to the development of India, but the Congress never made
efforts for their rehabilitation. Yogi paid tribute to the victims and said
that we salute their memories. The Chief Minister announced that the Uttar
Pradesh government will give land leases and proper rehabilitation to the
eligible families under CAA. He said that we are committed to protect and
safeguard their interests.
Yogi said that it
is important to connect the youth of the country with history through the
exhibition. It shows glimpses of the tragedy of partition, riots, displacement
and massacre. CM Yogi said that this initiative under the leadership of Prime
Minister Modi is working to heal the wounds of the victim families and is also
making the coming generations aware of the truth. During this, many dignitaries
including Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, Cabinet
Minister Swatantra Dev Singh and BJP State President Bhupendra Chaudhary were
present.
