Bhubaneswar, 14 August (H.S.): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Wednesday paid homage to the victims and displaced families of the Partition, marking Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas.
In a social media post, Pradhan described August 14, 1947, as a symbol of “deep pain and immense loss” in the nation’s history. He said that on this day, personal greed, lust for power, and narrow-mindedness committed the grave crime of breaking the country’s unity. Calling it one of the most painful events in human history, he noted that countless people were separated from their loved ones, homes, and homeland.
“The wounds of Partition will always remind us of the devastating consequences of hatred and hostility,” Pradhan said, adding that the day inspires citizens to make unity, brotherhood, and compassion the foundation of life. He saluted the “immortal souls” and displaced families who, despite enduring the tragedy, displayed courage to move forward in life.
