New Delhi, August 14 (HS): A fresh war of words erupted in Delhi on Thursday over the city’s monsoon readiness, with PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh showcasing what he described as visible progress in tackling waterlogging, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ridiculing the claims as hollow publicity.
Posting videos on social media platform X, Singh highlighted key trouble spots — Samaypur Badli underpass, Minto Bridge, Tilak Bridge and Prahladpur overpass — where, he said, “traffic now flows uninterrupted even during rains, in places once perennially flooded.”
“This change did not happen by chance — our government has been working continuously to eliminate waterlogging. The BJP government is working day and night to fix the Delhi left ruined by AAP’s misgovernance and negligence,” Singh asserted.
AAP’s Sharp Rebuttal
In a press conference at the party headquarters, AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha dismissed Singh’s remarks, alleging that Delhi’s ‘four-engine BJP government’ — a reference to BJP’s control at multiple administrative levels — had failed completely.
“Rivers are flowing on the streets and people are rowing boats in the waterlogged areas. Over two dozen deaths have occurred this monsoon due to rain-related incidents — who will take responsibility?” Jha questioned.
He accused the BJP of focusing on social media optics rather than real work: “Every day we see reels from BJP ministers, but no actual action on the ground.” He further alleged that over half of Delhi’s drains remain uncleared this season, worsening the flooding.
The exchange adds another layer to the bitter BJP–AAP feud over infrastructure and civic management in the capital, with both parties trading blame as heavy rains continue to batter the city.
