Golaghat (Assam), 14 August (HS): The Assam Tribal Students’ Union staged a strong protest in Numligarh this morning over land acquisition issues in tea gardens and the various problems faced by tea workers.

The demonstration took place at Rajabari Tea Garden, where tea laborers, under the Humatai branch of the Tea Tribes Students’ Association, gathered in large numbers. Protesters accused the government of deceiving tea workers for years and sharply criticized the labor department.

They opposed the acquisition of hundreds of acres of land in Rajabari Tea Garden by the Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and demanded an immediate halt to ongoing evictions in the tea garden area.
