Pune, 14 Aug
(HS): Despite several extensions of the last date, about 70 percent of vehicles
have remained without the High Security Registration Plate (HSRP). The last
date for installation of the HSRP is August 15. The Government had announced
that no further extension would be granted. Whether fines will be imposed
or the last date will be extended further remains to be seen.
The vehicles registered
before April 1, 2019, in Maharashtra are 2,54,90,159, out of which HSRP has
been installed only on 49,89,656 vehicles.
A meeting of the
RTO officers, chaired by the Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar, was held at
Pune on August 11 and 12. The issue of poor response and problems faced by the
HSRP fitment centres were discussed. However, the information about the extension
of the last date or not was not revealed.
Those who
applied online for the installation of HSRP, were given the dates in November and
December.
Sindhudurg (MH
08) leads in installing the HSRP in Maharashtra, which is only about 33
percent. Sindhudurg is followed by Wardha (MH 32), Nagpur Rural (MH 40), Satara
(HM 11), and Gadchiroli (MH 33).
