Dhubri (Assam), 18 August (HS): A sensation gripped Dhubri town on Monday morning after the dead body of senior lawyer Anishur Alam was found floating in the river near the Dhubri fairground.

According to reports, Alam had left for home around 7:30 PM on Sunday. Later that night, his phone was found switched off around 10 PM. His motorcycle was discovered near the Dhubri Mela ground, but he was missing.

Alarmed family members lodged a missing report at Dhubri Sadar Police Station, prompting police to launch a search operation. On Monday morning, his body was recovered from the riverbank.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem examination and begun an investigation into the circumstances leading to his death. Authorities said the cause will be clear after the autopsy and further inquiry.
