New Delhi, July 30(HS): The upcoming Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme installment will be released on August 2. A meeting chaired by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was held to review event preparations led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi, aiming to maximize farmer participation. Officials from 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR, and agricultural universities participated virtually.
Chouhan highlighted connecting farmers at all levels with the program and called for organizing a nationwide campaign. He noted that ₹6,000 is provided to farmers in three installments every four months, emphasizing KVKs' crucial role. Preparations should treat this event as both a festival and a mission for public awareness and Direct Benefit Transfer.
Farmers are encouraged to attend the August 2 event, with the opportunity to learn about agricultural development programs. Shri Chouhan instructed the use of grassroots workers, such as Krishi Sakhis and Sarpanches, for effective communication regarding the event. He affirmed the commitment to reach the maximum number of farmers under Prime Minister Modi's leadership. Since its initiation in 2019, ₹3.69 lakh crore has been transferred to farmers through 19 installments, with ₹20,500 crore designated for 9.7 crore farmers in the 20th installment. Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and ICAR officials were present at the meeting.
