Congress stages protest at Parliament against BJP govt over arrest of 2 Kerala nuns

New Delhi, July 30(HS): Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and party leaders protested outside Parliament against the arrest of Catholic nuns in Chhattisgarh. They accused the BJP of targeting minorities, with Priyanka stating the nuns were treated poorly and unjustly accused.

She condemned the attacks on minorities and claimed these actions are politically motivated, aimed at suppressing religious freedom. Nuns Vandana Francis and Preeti were apprehended for alleged forced conversions and human trafficking and are currently in judicial custody after their arrest from Durg railway station.

Congress MP Priyanka Vadra said, Some nuns were ill-treated, accused of things they didn't do. They were manhandled and taken away by the police in Chhattisgarh. We are protesting against such an attack on minorities. We demand an end to such atrocities against minorities. Ladies should not be manhandled. You cannot accuse anyone of things they are not doing. We can't take action against this, but we can push and pressurise the government as much as we can.
