Baksa (Assam), 30 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to visit Baksa district on August 4 to inaugurate academic activities at the newly established Eklavya Model Residential School at Daodhara.
Ahead of the visit, Assam Cabinet Minister and UPPL leader Urkhao Gwra Brahma inspected the school premises on Tuesday. Speaking to the media, he said his visit was aimed at understanding the school’s functioning ahead of the Chief Minister’s arrival.
Minister Brahma informed that the construction of the school’s housing infrastructure has been completed. He also commented on the political scenario in the region, particularly regarding the possibility of renewed ties between the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).
The potential friendship depends on BPF leader Hagrama Mohilary. If he comes forward with an open and unconditional approach, it may materialize. However, this is not a negative relationship. Certain conditions must be met for any alliance to take shape, Brahma said.
He further revealed that a proposal for political cooperation was extended a year ago, but no formal discussions have taken place between BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary and UPPL chief Pramod Boro.
Asserting confidence in his party’s strength, the minister stated, “We are fully prepared to contest all 40 seats of the council. UPPL will secure the majority on its own, without relying on anyone.”
