Varanasi, 31 July
(HS): Dr. Naeem Qadri, a sorcerer suspected of assaulting and threatening the
daughter of an impoverished Hindu family in order to compel her to marry him,
was detained in Varanasi late last night by Sigra police. Qadri allegedly came to the victim's
residence and threatened to shoot her ten times if she did not marry him. For
10 years, a woman from Jaiprakash Nagar Sigra spoke with Baba Dr. Naeem Qadri,
the proprietor of Rahat Dawakhana in Sheikh Salim Phatak, Nai Sadak. She used to come to him for exorcisms. The
woman claims that Baba torments her family. Every two to four days, he visits
her home, abuses her, and pressures her to marry her daughter. He claims that your daughter has matured.
Convince her to marry me.
Convert your son
to Islam, and we will marry him as well.
On July 23, Baba came to our house and threatened to marry our daughter
or else he would slice us all and toss us away.
He then pummeled us. Then, on July 29th, Naeem went to my husband's
store and threatened to shoot him if he did not marry his daughter to him by
tomorrow. On Wednesday evening, the
victim filed a formal complaint at the Sigra Police Station. After receiving a
complaint, authorities opened an investigation and apprehended him late at
night. According to the in-charge of the
Sigra police station, the accused has been apprehended and questioned. “Following the interrogation, he will be
sentenced to prison,” he added.
