Thoubal, 24 July (HS): A significant drug recovery was made in Thoubal district when police personnel from Lilong Police Station were conducting routine checks along NH-102 near the station gate.

During the operation, a man on a blue Yamaha Fascino scooter without a registration plate attempted to evade the checkpoint. Spotting the police, the rider abruptly abandoned his vehicle and escaped into the darkness, evading capture.

Subsequent inspection of the abandoned scooter led to the discovery of approximately 2 kg of brown sugar hidden within. Both the vehicle and the narcotics were promptly seized following legal procedures.

Authorities are currently working to trace the identity of the absconding individual and bring him to justice.
