24 July (HS): In a meeting with public representatives (MPs-MLAs) and
senior officials, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday inquired about the
upcoming projects/proposals for all the assembly constituencies of Gorakhpur
and Basti divisions. On this occasion, he discussed with the public
representatives from both the divisions about the road requirements of their
area assembly wise. He also said that to solve the problems of the area and in
accordance with the regional public aspirations, proposals for new road
projects should be made available to the government. These proposals will be
acted upon promptly on priority basis.
In the meeting held in the Annexe Bhawan
Auditorium, the Chief Minister first saw the digital presentation of the
upcoming road construction projects and proposals in all the assembly
constituencies of Gorakhpur-Basti division. Senior officers of the Public Works
Department informed about the upcoming proposals. After knowing the status of
future road projects in every assembly constituency, the Chief Minister
discussed with the public representatives the action plan for the future
requirement of roads in their area and gave instructions to the officers of the
Public Works Department accordingly.
In the meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
said that the government has done remarkable work in the direction of
interstate connectivity and four-lane connectivity. Gorakhpur-Basti division is
also getting the benefit of this. Emphasizing on continuously strengthening
road connectivity, he said that the Public Works Department should take
seriously the proposals received from the public representatives regarding
roads. The priority of all the proposals received should be determined with the
consent of the public representatives. The roads which are given priority by
the public representatives, their estimate should be made first and the
construction work should start after laying the foundation stone. After this,
other roads should also be built phase-wise. Those roads should be given
priority first, which will benefit a large population. He said that the roads
of urban areas should be developed by including them in the CM Grid Scheme.
During this, the CM gave instructions to complete the road construction
projects within the stipulated time frame and not to compromise on quality. He
said that the public representatives should keep monitoring the construction
work of the roads in their respective areas so that ensuring quality work
continues to be done rapidly. Questions should not be raised on quality.
During the meeting, some public representatives
raised the issue of some roads getting damaged during floods. On this, the
Chief Minister told the officers of the Public Works Department to prepare a
special action plan for strengthening the roads in flood affected areas. He
also instructed to use disaster relief funds for this if needed. Senior
officials of the Tourism Department present in the meeting also gave
information about the tourism development work being done at religious places
at the assembly constituency level. On this, the Chief Minister said that the
Public Works Department should work promptly to connect all the temples and
religious places where tourism development has taken place and is taking place,
to the main roads. If any public representative gives a proposal for this, then
its estimate should be prepared quickly and the work should be started.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that
Gorakhpur and Basti divisions are moving ahead with a new identity of development.
He said that development is a continuous process and public representatives are
brand ambassadors of development in their respective areas. It is the
responsibility of the public representatives to stay among the people and
discuss development works, know their aspirations regarding development and
provide proposals to the government accordingly. CM Yogi said that the
convenience, security and prosperity of the people are at the core of the
government's policies, so public representatives should keep inspecting the
development projects being run in their area. These schemes are helpful in
building the image of local public representatives. If there is any obstacle in
any development work, the public representatives should get it removed in
consultation with the officials.

Minister Vijayalakshmi Gautam, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Mayor Dr.
Manglesh Shrivastava along with peoples’ representatives from Gorakhpur and
Basti division, Principal Secretary PWD Ajay Chauhan, Principal Secretary
Tourism Mukesh Meshram, Head of Department PWD Ashok Dwivedi were present in
the meeting.
