Bhubaneswar, 24 July (H.S.): A delegation from the Odisha Adivasi Mahasangh met with Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today at Lok Seva Bhavan to address issues affecting tribal communities and present proposals for their collective welfare and development.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the state government's commitment to the comprehensive development of tribal populations, underscoring that their welfare is a top priority. He referenced the Prime Minister’s vision, stating that the poor are the foremost section of society, with tribal communities representing a significant portion of this group.
He also highlighted various welfare schemes initiated by the Central Government for tribal development and assured that the State Government is actively working to enhance tribal livelihoods and improve access to education. To facilitate holistic growth in tribal regions, he announced the upcoming establishment of two regional development councils: the Northern Odisha Development Council and the Southern Odisha Development Council.
Moreover, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to eradicate social evils within tribal communities and encouraged the Federation to focus on awareness and reform. He reiterated that constructive dialogue is essential to overcoming challenges.
The meeting included the participation of Minister for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development, Shri Nityananda Gand, Nabarangpur MLA Shri Gauri Shankar Majhi, Odisha Adivasi Mahasangh President Shri Karma Lakra, General Secretary Shri Sharata Chandra Nayak, and representatives from approximately 11 districts across the state.
