Guwahati, 24 July (HS): In a major breakthrough, police teams from Guwahati's Bashishtha and Jorabat outposts arrested nine robbers during a joint operation conducted on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off regarding the presence of a notorious criminal named Nova Daka in the 13th Mile area, police launched a search operation. During the raid, officers apprehended the suspect along with eight others. A vehicle used for committing robberies was also recovered during the operation.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mafidul Ali, Gazia Rahman, Sameer Ali, and Maminur Rahman from Goalpara district; Khairul Haque, Niranjan Rabha, and Manzoor Ali from Boko; and Fazal Haque and Mehar Ali from Chhaygaon.

Police sources confirmed that the accused are involved in multiple cases of theft, robbery, and vehicle hijacking across Assam. Several of them have previously served jail time for similar offences. An FIR has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
