NEET-PG Aspirants from Tamil Nadu Seek State Intervention for Center Re-allotment

Chennai, 24 July (H.S.) : A group of NEET-PG aspirants from Tamil Nadu are facing challenges due to being allotted examination centers in Andhra Pradesh, which is causing significant inconvenience and financial burden. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has continued this practice despite repeated representations from the candidates. Over 1,000 candidates from Tamil Nadu have been allotted exam centers outside the state, with some having to travel up to 600 km.

The Doctors' Association for Social Equality (DASE) has highlighted that long-distance travel is particularly challenging for women candidates, who often need an escort for safety and support, adding to their financial and logistical strain. The state government has enough government and private medical colleges to accommodate the candidates, and DASE is urging the state government to step in and press for re-allotment of centers.

This issue is not new, and in 2024, exam center reallocation was made possible after Dindigul MP R Sachithanantham and Kerala MP Shashi Tharoor raised the issue with the Union Health Ministry. Candidates are now seeking similar intervention to ensure a fair and convenient testing process for the upcoming exam scheduled for August 3. The NBEMS has 24 exam centers in Tamil Nadu for NEET-PG 2025, but candidates are still facing difficulties due to allotment in other states.
