Cachar (Assam), 24 July (HS): Cachar police seized a large quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) during a routine vehicle check at a tollgate in the district. The vehicle, a truck bearing registration number AS-11 IC-8141, was intercepted while it was heading towards Meghalaya.
Upon inspection, the truck was found to be transporting a substantial consignment of liquor meant for illegal sale in Meghalaya. The seized items include Signature Whisky – 07 cartons (12 bottles each), Blenders Pride – 04 cartons (12 bottles each), Absolut Vodka – 01 carton (12 bottles), Kingfisher Ultra Max Beer – 20 cartons (8 bottles each) and Royal Stag Whisky – 54 cartons (12 bottles each).
The total quantity of liquor recovered amounts to 914 litres, with an estimated market value of approximately ₹10 lakh.
The vehicle along with the consignment has been taken into custody and legal proceedings have been initiated under relevant sections of the law, informed Cachar police.
