Mumbai, 24 July (HS): The police raided a closed pharmaceutical
factory in Maharashtra’s Mahad town of Raigad district and recovered a banned
drug worth Rs 88,92 crore. Four people were arrested in this connection.
According to police, the Rohan Chemicals company on
plot number 26/3 in MIDC, Mahad, was closed for the last several months. The
police got information that the drugs are being illegally manufactured in the
company. A banned drug, Ketamine, which is used as an anaesthetic medicine
promoting sleep, and also used (Misused) by the drug addicts, was being
manufactured in the factory. Police raided the premises to fins a huge stock of
the banned drug in the premises. Four persons were arrested an an offence under
Sections 8©, 25, 27(a), 29, 42 of the NDPS Act and section 3 (5) of Bharatiya
Nyaya Sanhita was registered against them.
Further investigation into the wider network related
to the banned drug has been initiated.
