Lucknow,

24 July (HS): There is uproar in Lucknow after the controversial statement

given by former cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya on Kanwariyas. His house

has turned into a battlefield. On one hand, the workers of Vishwa Hindu Raksha

Parishad are protesting and want to fulfill their vow, while the police is

trying to stop them by any means. Swami Prasad Maurya had said in his statement

that government-protected goons and mafia are creating a ruckus in the guise of

Kanwariyas. The devotees of Lord Shiva are innocent, they cannot do this. Such

people are spoiling the atmosphere under the guise of Kanwar Yatra.

After

this statement of Swami Prasad Maurya, there was anger among Hindu

organizations. In protest against the statement given about Kanwariyas, the

workers of Vishwa Hindu Raksha Parishad had announced a protest at the

residence of Swami Prasad Maurya today. They also talked about washing his

house with Ganga water. In view of this, a large number of police force was

deployed outside Swami Prasad Maurya's house.

A

major confrontation was averted in Lucknow: However, due to the promptness of

Lucknow police, the workers of Vishwa Hindu Raksha Parishad were taken into

custody 200 meters away from Swami Prasad Maurya's private residence. The

workers of Vishwa Hindu Raksha Parishad were not allowed to reach his

residence. On the other hand, supporters of Swami Prasad Maurya had also

reached his residence, which was creating a situation of confrontation. The

supporters of Apni Janata Party claimed that if anyone comes here, they will

have to face their wrath. However, due to the promptness of the police, the

whole matter was resolved.
