Chennai, 24 July (H.S.): In a recent development, DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan has come to the defense of Chief Minister MK Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, responding to criticisms made by AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami (EPS). EPS had accused the DMK leadership of indulging in dynastic politics, claiming that their rise to power was due to their familial ties to the late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi.
Elangovan's defense comes after EPS questioned the basis for Udhayanidhi's appointment as Deputy Chief Minister, suggesting that he didn't earn the position through hard work or party service. EPS also criticized the DMK government for naming schemes after Karunanidhi, which he deemed inappropriate. However, Udhayanidhi had earlier countered EPS's allegations, defending the decision to name government projects after Karunanidhi as a gesture of gratitude for his contributions to Tamil Nadu's development.
The DMK spokesperson's defense of Stalin's political rise highlights the ongoing feud between the DMK and AIADMK, with both parties trading sharp remarks over governance and party politics. Notably, Elangovan has been recently relieved of his role as DMK spokesperson, although the exact reason for this decision remains unclear.
