Kolkata, 1 July (H.S.) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in an official post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, announced that ITC Limited’s new IT and ITES campus located in Action Area-III of Newtown has been granted the Occupancy Certificate. The project is being hailed as a significant step forward in the state’s journey toward industrial and technological advancement.
The state-of-the-art campus has been developed on 17 acres of land allocated by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO). The facility comprises three major structures — a high-rise office tower, a dedicated knowledge center, and a business support center.
The project has already completed 1.45 million square feet of built-up area, making it one of the largest IT campuses in West Bengal.
According to CM Banerjee, the project has attracted an investment of approximately ₹1,200 crore. In its initial phase alone, the campus is expected to create more than 5,000 direct employment opportunities, offering a major boost to the region’s growing tech ecosystem.
The Chief Minister further stated that operations at the ITC campus will begin very soon, which will strengthen Bengal’s position as a leading destination for national and international investors, especially in the digital and technology sectors.
She also expressed hope that more digital and technology-driven companies will now be drawn to invest in West Bengal, given the improved infrastructure and supportive ecosystem.
The state government and industry leaders believe that ITC’s new IT campus will accelerate industrialization and open up quality employment opportunities for Bengal’s youth. The project is expected to serve as a milestone in the state’s technological and economic development.
