Dhubri (Assam), 1 July (HS): A horrific road accident occurred on Tuesday when a cargo truck overturned in Gauripur in Dhubri district of Assam. The incident took place on National Highway-17 in Targhat area, when the truck driver lost control.

The crashed truck (AS-19-C-7434) was going from Gauripur to Bilasipara. The truck went out of control and overturned, causing heavy damage to the nearby rest house and the donation box of the cemetery.

At the time of the incident, many pedestrians were present on the roadside, who somehow narrowly escaped. The truck driver and his helper were injured, who were immediately sent to the hospital for treatment.

Local people alleged that the accident occurred due to the absence of side bam in this part of the national highway. After the accident, traffic remained disrupted in the area for some time.
