Ahmedabad , 13 June (H.S.): Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the only survivor of the Air India plane crash at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Thursday along with other injured in the crash. Ramesh Viswashkumar, the lone survivor of an Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on Thursday, was seated near an emergency exit and managed to escape the wreckage. The 40-year-old British national, traveling with his brother to Britain after visiting family in India, spoke to the media from his hospital bed. Footage circulated on social media shows him, bloodstained and limping, being assisted by a medic. When asked about other passengers, he stated, they're all inside.
A relative in Britain confirmed his survival, but further details were not disclosed. His cousin, Ajay Valgi, reported that Ramesh assured the family he was fine but provided no additional information. The family remains anxious, especially concerning his brother, with Valgi noting their distress.
The crash, occurring in a residential area and hitting a medical college hostel, resulted in over 290 fatalities, marking it as the worst aviation disaster in a decade. Authorities indicated that rescue efforts were ongoing and suggested the possibility of more survivors among those receiving treatment in hospitals.
