Birbhum, 12 June (H.S.): Birbhum, June 12 (HS). After a written complaint to the Madrasa Board and the District Administration alleging irregularities in the appointment of teachers in Madgram High Madrasa of Birbhum district, Secretary of State Minority Affairs and Madrasa Education Department PB Salim and District Magistrate Bidhan Roy reached to investigate the complaint on Wednesday afternoon. They were accompanied by Rampurhat SDO, local BDO, police and administration officials. They found the appointments of 11 teachers and four non-teaching staff in the Madrasa illegal. The district administration claimed that despite the existence of Madrasa Service Commission, they have been appointed through the headmaster and management committee, which is illegal. The District Magistrate asked them not to come to the school, after which the police threw those 15 people out of the school. The District Magistrate, along with calling those teachers fake, told the villagers not to let them enter the school.
Notably, After the written exam and interview, 15 people were given appointment letters in 2019. They had approached the court as they did not get salary despite joining the service. They had reportedly stopped coming to school in the meantime. Later, the court had constituted a committee headed by a former judge. The committee had investigated and cancelled the appointments. In a counter suit filed by teachers and non-teaching staff, the Supreme Court had ordered the state government to verify and pay salary if satisfied. They submitted the file to the DI office to get their salary. The Trinamool Madrasa Teachers' Union had opposed this. The district president of the organization, Fazle Maula Khan, said, Despite the existence of the Madrasa Service Commission, the school management committee has made illegal appointments in exchange for money. We have also complained to the Minority Department. After investigating the complaints, 498 people from various madrasas in the state have been declared fake. Riyaz Kajal, a teacher included in the list of irregularities, said, I got the job by giving the exam after seeing the advertisement of the madrasa. The headmaster was called, but he did not pick up the phone. He did not respond to messages. AI Ghulam Kibria said, We have no information regarding the appointment of those teachers. The administration is investigating the matter. An administration official said, not only appointment, but irregularities are also taking place in mid-day meal.
