New Delhi, June 12 (HS) : The Supreme Court of India on thursday dismissed the plea aimed at halting the ongoing teacher recruitment exams in Andhra Pradesh, which began on June 6 and are set to conclude on July 6. Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Manmohan stated that the court would not interfere as the exams were already underway. They questioned the petitioner’s decision to approach the Supreme Court directly instead of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which was on summer vacation but reopening on June 16. The petitioner’s counsel expressed concerns about the exam process, including multiple shifts and the transition to computer-based testing. However, the bench reiterated its stance, emphasizing that since the exams had already started, they could not be stopped midway.

Additional Solicitor General S V Raju informed the court that over one lakh candidates had already participated in the exams, reinforcing the argument against disrupting the process. The plea challenged the state's examination methodology and sought an immediate halt, but the court maintained that the petitioner could approach the high court once it reopened.
