Jammu, 12 June (H.S.): A 50-year-old man shot himself dead in Gandhi Nagar area here today.

Vikas Sharma son of Ashok Kumar of 21-A, Extension Gandhi Nagar, Jammu shot himself with a revolver at his home between 2:30-3 PM, resulting in severe injuries in his head, a police official said.

He was immediately taken to a hospital, where doctors declared him as dead on arrival, he said.

While it was not immediately known as to why the middle-aged man ended his life, police have launched inquest proceedings to further probe into the matter.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family members after completing the medico-legal formalities at the hospital, for conducting the last rites.
