Amravati, 12 June (HS): The supporters of former
minister Bachhu Kadu and members of his Prahar organisation blocked the Nagpur-Amravati national highway on Thursday morning. The road blockade was held on the Nandgaonpeth checkpost near Mozari. Kadu launched an indefinite hunger strike at
Gurukunj Mozari on June 8 with 17 demands. The major demands include loan
waiver for farmers and a hike in financial support for the disabled.
The agitators burnt tyres on the road and blocked
the road by spreading tree branches across the highway. The demonstrators
threatened to intensify the agitation if the government failed to accept the
demands.
Meanwhile, Bachhu Kadu’s wife, Nayna Kadu, and son, Deva Kadu, reached the scene and enquired about his health.
