Government approves procurement of summer Moong under PSS for summer crop season 2025–26 in Haryana, UP, Gujarat and Groundnut in UP

Delhi, 12 June (H.S.): The Government has sanctioned the procurement of 54,166 MT of Moong and 50,750 MT of Groundnut under the Price Support Scheme (PSS) for the summer crop season 2025–26 in various states, with an extension of procurement in Andhra Pradesh until 26.06.25 to support farmers. To increase domestic pulse production and reduce import reliance, procurement of Tur, Urad, and Masur will be allowed up to 100 percent of state production for the 2024–25 season. This initiative will continue until 2028–29 as stated in the Union Budget 2025, aiming for national self-sufficiency in pulses, facilitated through Central Nodal Agencies like NAFED and NCCF.

The integrated scheme Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA), which includes PSS, PDPS, MIS, and PSF, focuses on providing assured prices for farmers’ produce, ensuring income security against market volatility. The PSS is activated when market prices for designated pulses and oilseeds fall below the minimum support price (MSP) during peak harvesting, ensuring fair compensation for farmers.
