Guwahati, 12 June (HS): Basistha police has arrested four members of the ATM fraud gang. Basistha police informed on Thursday that all the four members of the gang were arrested from Koyakuchi of Barpeta and Baksa district. The arrested accused include Aminul Haque, Sahidul Islam, Lutfur Rahman and Mehboobur Rahman.

All the arrested accused were running their activities while living in a rented house in Beharbari, Guwahati. The four used to commit fraud in different parts of Guwahati. This gang was especially targeting elderly and uneducated persons. The police team raided the rented house in Beharbari and recovered 39 ATMs, one passbook, two checkbook and five mobiles.

The police also seized a four-wheeler (AH-01FA-6066) from the possession of the criminals. It is known that on June 2, criminals cheated an old man named Umesh Kalita in Beltala SBI Bank and replaced his ATM.

After this, Umesh registered a case in Bashisht police station. On the basis of the registered case, the police conducted a drive and arrested all of them. For further investigation, all four are being interrogated by Bashisht police.
