Karbi Anglong (Assam), 12 June (HS): Two unidentified bodies were found in the Digal Pani river of Yamunagaon under Howrahghat police station in Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Thursday, creating a sensation in the area. Local people saw the bodies of a woman and a man floating in the river and immediately informed the police.
On receiving the information, the Howrahghat police reached the spot and recovered both the bodies and took them to the police station. After the incident, a tense atmosphere prevails in the entire Howrahghat area including Yamunagaon.
According to the local people, the dead woman was wearing a chaadar-mekhela, while the man had a towel on his body. This has raised suspicion that both the deceased may possibly be from the tribal community.
At present it is not clear from where the bodies came floating in the river. Till the time of filing this report, both the bodies could not be identified. According to police sources, the age of the deceased man is estimated to be around 40 years and that of the woman is around 35 years.--------
