Kolkata, 12 June (H.S.)

BJP MLAs in the West Bengal Assembly staged a walkout on Thursday after Speaker Biman Banerjee rejected their adjournment motions concerning violence in Murshidabad and Maheshtala. Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition, moved a motion on the Murshidabad violence, while Puna Bhengra addressed the Maheshtala clashes. The Speaker dismissed both motions, citing the subjudice nature of the Murshidabad issue and deeming the Maheshtala matter unsuitable for discussion at the time. In protest, BJP MLAs raised slogans against the TMC government, walked out, and marched to the governor's house. State ministers Chandrima Bhattacharya and Sashi Panja criticized the BJP's actions, calling their slogans, including Hindu-birodhi sarkar (anti-Hindu government), and flag-waving inappropriate and unparliamentary.
