South Dinajpur, 10 June (H.S.): A fire broke out in a house located at Khidirpur Vivekananda Palli area of Ward No. 16 of Balurghat city of South Dinajpur district late on Monday night. Four rooms of the house were completely burnt to ashes in this incident . Along with this, the furniture, money, jewelry and food items present there were also burnt to ashes. However, the family members narrowly escaped . It is learnt thata gas cylinder exploded during the fire for which the fire spread rapidly. The fire brigade brought the fire under control after about two hours of effort.
The initial estimate of the fire brigade and police is that the fire broke out due to a short circuit. However, the police and the fire department are investigating the real cause of the fire. According to police sources, the name of the house owner is Manoj Mallick. He is a labourer by profession.
Manoj Mallick said on Tuesday morning, All the goods in my house have been burnt to ashes. Last night the electricity was going off repeatedly. I was outside due to heat. Suddenly I saw fire. Somehow we survived but nothing was left in my house. Ward councillor Abhijit Saha reached the spot at night. He told that everything of the family was burnt to ashes in the fierce fire. He assured that the municipality is with the family.
