Manmad, 11 June (HS): More than 1.600 kg of gold and
Rs 8 lakh cash were stolen in a house-breaking incident in Manmad. The thieves
entered the house of a fabrication businessman, Murtuja Rassiwala, in Damre
Colony in Manmad’s camp area, by cutting bars of a window on the rear side of
the house. This was the third major theft in the last 15 days in Manmad.
The thieves entered the house from a window and
broke open the almirah in a bedroom. Murtuja had gone to Arvi on Sunday night to
bring his mother. His wife and son went to Nashik on Monday evening. When
Murtuja returned on Wednesday he noticed the theft and informed the police.
Police summoned a dog squad and forensic experts from
Nashik to trace the thieves.
