Guwahati, 10 June (HS): With the aim of putting the Barak Valley region on a strong development path and accelerating its progress, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma held an important meeting in his office at Lok Seva Bhawan on Tuesday. Officials of the Barak Valley Development Department as well as ministers and MLAs participated in this meeting.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma underlined the social, economic and strategic importance of Barak Valley and emphasized on setting a common development goal for its balanced development. He emphasized on the implementation of development projects equally in all three districts - Cachar, Sribhumi and Hailakandi and their speedy completion.

The Chief Minister said that the government is working on such developmental schemes, which benefit the citizens of all three districts equally. He emphasized the need for coordination between all concerned parties and the district administration for the effective implementation of the projects.

In the interest of the students and citizens of Barak Valley, the Chief Minister informed that the government is also taking steps towards establishing Barak Valley Bhawan in New Delhi and Kolkata.

Keeping in view the rich cultural heritage of Barak Valley and the sports talent of the youth, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma directed to organize the Barak Cultural Festival and Barak Sports Festival soon. Also, he asked to take necessary steps towards providing MRI facilities in civil hospitals of all districts.

Guardian Minister of Cachar District Jayanta Malla Baruah, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Kaushik Roy, Animal Husbandry Minister Krishnendu Paul, MLAs of Barak Valley, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr. KK Dwivedi, Secretary of Barak Valley Development Department Adil Khan and many other officials were present in the meeting. ---------------
