Bhubaneswar, 10 June (H.S.): Marking the completion of one year in office, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday presented a detailed report card, outlining the achievements and key reforms undertaken by the BJP-led government over the past 12 months. Addressing the media in Bhubaneswar, CM Majhi emphasized that the administration has remained committed to fulfilling the promises made in the Sankalp Patra (election manifesto) and has worked with unwavering dedication under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “We have not just governed—we have fulfilled the people’s aspirations. Whatever we promised, we have delivered,” said the Chief Minister.
Expressing his deep gratitude to PM Modi, CM Majhi stated that the Prime Minister’s continuous support and affection for Odisha have significantly contributed to the state’s development momentum. He also announced that PM Modi is scheduled to visit Odisha again on June 20, a visit expected to further enhance Centre-State coordination.
Recalling the first day in office on June 12 last year, CM Majhi said the newly-formed cabinet had taken four landmark decisions to set the tone for people-centric governance: reopening all four gates of the Puri Jagannath Temple to restore traditional access for devotees; launching the Subhadra Yojana to empower women; establishing a Rs 500 crore corpus fund for the development of Jagannath temples; and announcing as well as fulfilling a input subsidy of Rs 800 per quintal for paddy farmers. “These decisions reflected our commitment to tradition, empowerment, and welfare,” he added.
Highlighting strides in agriculture, the Chief Minister pointed to the launch of the Samruddha Krushi Yojana, backed by a record allocation of Rs 37,800 crore—the largest agriculture budget in the state’s history. This initiative has benefited lakhs of farmers across Odisha. In tandem, the government has empowered nearly 17 lakh women under various livelihood missions, helping create “Lakhpati Didis” in line with the vision of self-reliant rural households.
Education has been another major priority of the government. CM Majhi criticized the previous regime for neglecting school infrastructure, stating that mere cosmetic measures like painting school buildings under the 5T initiative were not enough. “We are committed to real transformation. That’s why we started the initiative to set up Godavarish Mishra Adarsh Vidyalayas in every panchayat,” he said. He further informed that the government has implemented the New Education Policy (NEP) and introduced Shishu Vatika to strengthen early childhood education. The goal, he emphasized, is to transform government schools into centers of excellence that can attract students away from private institutions through better infrastructure and quality teaching.
