Mirzapur, 10 June (HS): There was a
stir in village Chakkodar on Tuesday morning when people saw that the statue of
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar installed in the village had been damaged by some unknown
person. As soon as the news of the incident spread, a wave of anger ran among
the villagers, but the promptness of the police and administration kept the
situation under control.
As soon as the information was
received, the police of Halia police station along with the Lalganj Area
Officer Ashok Kumar Singh reached the spot. The officials appealed to maintain
peace and immediately started the process of installing a new statue of Dr.
Ambedkar. The statue was installed within a few hours, which brought
satisfaction to the local people.
CO Lalganj Ashok Kumar Singh said
that a case has been registered against an unknown person in this case and
investigation has started. He said that the culprits will be identified and
strict action will be taken.
