
Jalaun, 6 Dec (HS): Inspector Arun Kumar Rai, posted at the
Kuthaund police station in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh, shot himself with
his service revolver. Policemen rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshot
and were shocked. The inspector's body was found in a pool of blood in the
room, with the revolver lying nearby. He was taken to the medical college for
treatment, but doctors declared him dead. Upon receiving information about the
incident, the Superintendent of Police arrived at the scene. The actual cause
of death has not yet been revealed.
The entire incident occurred at Kuthaund police station in
Jalaun, located approximately 51 km from the district headquarters. It is being
reported that the inspector was on patrol duty and had returned after attending
a community feast. However, the specific reason behind this suicide remains
unclear. Inspector Arun Kumar Rai was originally from Sant Kabir Nagar and was
appointed as an inspector in 2023. His family has been informed of the entire
incident.
Attended a feast during patrolling, was shot 30 minutes later:
Inspector Arun Kumar Rai had gone out on patrolling with his colleagues. During
this he attended a feast programme where people honoured him. He reached his
official residence at exactly 9 pm and then at 9:30 the sound of a gunshot was
heard from his residence. When the room was opened, his entire body was found
drenched in blood. He was brought to the medical college for treatment where
after about two and a half hours of hard work the doctors declared him dead at
11:15 am.
What did the SP say? Superintendent of Police Dr. Durgesh Kumar
stated that Inspector-in-Charge Arun Kumar Rai shot himself in the head with
his service revolver at around 9:30 p.m. He died while undergoing treatment at
Orai Medical College. The cause of death is still unknown. The case is under
investigation. The family has been informed of the incident.
