Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on the foundation day of the Asom Sahitya Sabha, paying rich tribute to the Assamese language and the literary body’s enduring legacy.
In a social media message, the Chief Minister described Assamese as his “ever-beloved mother tongue” and offered his salutations to the great stalwarts of the Asom Sahitya Sabha who have guided the institution since its inception, as well as to all those currently associated with it.
Dr Sarma said the Asom Sahitya Sabha has continuously worked for the promotion and expansion of the Assamese language, playing a vital role in preserving the state’s linguistic and cultural heritage.
On the auspicious occasion of the Sabha’s foundation day, the Chief Minister conveyed his sincere best wishes to the present members of the Asom Sahitya Sabha and to the people of Assam, expressing hope that the institution would continue to strengthen the Assamese language in the years to come.
