Kanpur,

27 Dec (HS): A security guard was shot dead in the chest by his counterpart under

Bilhaur police station area. After committing this incident on late Friday

night, the accused fled from the spot. There was a dispute between the two over

keeping wood in the bonfire. Then a fight broke out after which the angry youth

shot him. Police reached the spot after receiving information, sent the dead

body for postmortem and started searching for the murderer. The incident took

place in Gadarpur Aahar village.

Nirmal

Singh Chandel alias Neeraj (45), a resident of Aurangpur Sambhi village, used

to work as a security guard along with farming at the under-construction

Maharishi Yogi Agricultural University. He was warming himself by the fire with

his other fellow guards. Meanwhile,

an argument broke out between the other security guard, the killer, Anirudh

Dwivedi, and Neeraj over the wood in the bonfire. The situation escalated to

the point where they started fighting. Suddenly, the accused shot Nirmal in the

chest with his licensed double-barreled gun. People present there tried to

apprehend the accused, but he escaped into the forest. Police arrived at the

scene and took the injured to the community health center, where doctors

declared him dead.

The

deceased Neeraj Chandel's family includes his wife, Pushpa Singh, who has been

battling cancer for the past five years, and his 12-year-old daughter,

Tanishka. This is why, along with farming, he worked as a security guard to

treat his wife's illness and support his family. Bilhaur

police station in-charge Ashok Kumar Saroj said that a murder case has been

registered against the accused based on the family's complaint. He will soon be

arrested and sent to jail.
