
Kanpur,
27 Dec (HS): A security guard was shot dead in the chest by his counterpart under
Bilhaur police station area. After committing this incident on late Friday
night, the accused fled from the spot. There was a dispute between the two over
keeping wood in the bonfire. Then a fight broke out after which the angry youth
shot him. Police reached the spot after receiving information, sent the dead
body for postmortem and started searching for the murderer. The incident took
place in Gadarpur Aahar village.
Nirmal
Singh Chandel alias Neeraj (45), a resident of Aurangpur Sambhi village, used
to work as a security guard along with farming at the under-construction
Maharishi Yogi Agricultural University. He was warming himself by the fire with
his other fellow guards. Meanwhile,
an argument broke out between the other security guard, the killer, Anirudh
Dwivedi, and Neeraj over the wood in the bonfire. The situation escalated to
the point where they started fighting. Suddenly, the accused shot Nirmal in the
chest with his licensed double-barreled gun. People present there tried to
apprehend the accused, but he escaped into the forest. Police arrived at the
scene and took the injured to the community health center, where doctors
declared him dead.
The
deceased Neeraj Chandel's family includes his wife, Pushpa Singh, who has been
battling cancer for the past five years, and his 12-year-old daughter,
Tanishka. This is why, along with farming, he worked as a security guard to
treat his wife's illness and support his family. Bilhaur
police station in-charge Ashok Kumar Saroj said that a murder case has been
registered against the accused based on the family's complaint. He will soon be
arrested and sent to jail.
