
Chennai, 16 December (H.S.) : Six guest workers, all hailing from Bihar and including one minor boy, were arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old co-worker near Malumichampatti in Coimbatore district.The deceased, identified as Rakesh Kumar (23), also from Bihar, succumbed to his injuries at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) early Monday morning.
Details of the Incident:Setting: Rakesh, his brother Raja Kumar, and the six accused were employed at a private firm near Malumichampatti and shared a rented house.The Fight: On Sunday night, a quarrel broke out while Rakesh and his brother were having dinner and the accused were consuming alcohol near the kitchen.
The Attack: In a fit of rage, one of the arrested, Rajakumar Mandal, assaulted Rakesh. When Rakesh's brother Raja Kumar intervened, the other five accused also joined the assault.Fatal Stabbing: Rajakumar Mandal then took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Rakesh in the neck.
Rakesh was rushed to CMCH but died around 4 am on Monday.The Chettipalayam police have registered a murder case against the six individuals. The five adults—identified as Rajakumar Mandal, Nakul Mandal, Bikash Kumar, Avdesh Kumar Mandal, and Ravikumar—were remanded in judicial custody. The minor boy was sent to an observation home.
