Kolkata, 13 December (H.S.): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday expressed deep sorrow and regret over the mismanagement incident at the Salt Lake Stadium and offered an apology.

The Chief Minister posted on the social media platform X, I am deeply disturbed and shocked by the mismanagement witnessed today at Salt Lake Stadium. I was on my way to the stadium to attend the event along with thousands of sports lovers and fans who had gathered to catch a glimpse of their favourite footballer, Lionel Messi..

Mamata Banerjee sincerely apologized to Lionel Messi, as well as all the sports lovers and their fans, for this unfortunate incident.

The Chief Minister has constituted an inquiry committee headed by Justice (Retd.) Ashim Kumar Roy to conduct a detailed investigation into the incident. The committee includes the Chief Secretary and the Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Hill Affairs Department, as members.

The committee will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, determine responsibility, and suggest measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Finally, the Chief Minister once again offered her heartfelt apologies to all the sports enthusiasts, stating that she is deeply saddened by the incident.
