
Kamrup (Assam), 13 December (HS): Police on Saturday destroyed illegal marijuana cultivation in the North Rangapani area under Nagarbera in Assam’s Kamrup district as part of an ongoing crackdown on narcotics.
According to police sources, a special operation was carried out in which marijuana plants grown illegally by around 40 families were cut down and burnt on the spot. The destroyed marijuana crop was estimated to be worth over ₹20 lakh.
Officials said the drive was undertaken to curb the spread of drug cultivation and to send a strong message against involvement in narcotics-related activities. Further investigation is underway and legal action may be initiated against those found involved in the illegal cultivation.----------
