Dhubri (Assam), 13 December (HS): Police in Golakganj arrested three alleged land mafia operatives for their involvement in illegal encroachment of indigenous land at Belpara Char on Saturdays. The arrested persons have been identified as Shanidul Haque, Jaharuddin Sheikh and Amjat Ali.

According to police sources, the trio was actively involved in forcibly occupying land belonging to local indigenous families in the char area. Acting on specific inputs, police carried out an operation and took them into custody. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of land encroachment and identify others linked to the racket.----------
